I just rented a movie from Blockbuster and when I got the disc out of the package, the disc had a clear cover over it called a "disc shield" which also had a magnetic strip sandwiched between the "disc shield' and the disc itself. Has anyone had any dealings with these yet and if so, does anyone know any way of getting around these things? Thanks and have a great day!

What is there to get around? The hardware still reads the media.

With the "magnetic strip" embedded between the "disc shield" and the disc itself,it will not read it. When it gets to that point it stops and says "cannot read bad sectors".
Thanks and have a great day!

It's a problem that might make a person scratch his head before firing up the rescue software, but I don't think we should be discussing copying rental DVDs. That goes against what we're here for, backing up one's own DVDs. I'm no mod and this is just a suggestion, you may want to read the forum rules.
