i am running win xp and nero 6 with the drag and drop dvd iso - i was able to burn a lot of mpeg movies to maxell dvd + R disc and play them in my standalone dvd player but when the burn was done i put the disc in the player and some of the files played ok then some just stopped and the time counter on the dvd display (track)( time )it kept on skipping. example 24sec then 38 sec then 1:28 then 2:21 and the video was either skipping or stopped. simplified of what i want to do: load the disc, record it to vhs, leave and check back later knowing it will all be done perfectly. oh and also i burned 35 tracks but it only showed 21.
The maxell discs you are using are not top quality and could be the reason for the "skipping", I would suggest you try a different brand like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony (made in Japan) and burn at around 4X
