I have an ILO DVDR04, in which the disc tray will retract, but immediately reopen w/o prompting. Open/close/open.....and remain open. The only way to keep it closed is to apply lite pressure to it, but you can feel it trying to open. It will not however, play or record like this. I have tried unplugging from power source to try and "reboot" recorder so to speak, but that has not worked. Anyone have this occur, and/or have any suggestions?

    thank you

    Hi priceb,

Your recorder is actually a Liteon. Do you have an eject button (open/close)on your remote? Try that.

Do the following to reboot system.

    1.turn unit off.
    2. Press AND hold the stop button
    3. Press power on the units remote
    4. the units tray should eject, go ahead and let go of the stop button and push tray back in.
    5. Power unit off and then power back on.

I found the following website, however their link to "ilo service" is not working. Perhaps just temporarily down?

    http://www.ilohelp.com/

Found a link to tech support (for USA)

thanks, for the tip mackdl, but that did not resolve the issue. It just continues to close and then open, and stay open unless I force it to stay closed. May be a motor thing. I guess i will just wait and see what tech support has to say.

Let us know what the tech says, that way we can help the next person that asks.

Good luck, hope you get it resolved.

"I am not sure the exact cost of repair, as it depends on labor, etc., but
it is my recomendation that you just replace this recorder with another
one. The cost of repair can easily add up to more than a new recorder,
    even with simple problems."

Well, this was tech support's response, so now I am shopping for a new recorder. The local Walmart does not carry the ILO or LiteOn brand anymore, so I am looking at other brands priced comparatively. I definately want a machine that is capable of disabling MacroVision, compatable with a variety of disc types, and plays JPEG or picture CDs. Do all recorders have MacroVision disabling capability? Any suggestions?
