I knew someone a few months back who were disconnected from their subbed box as it wasn't been used, thats what NTL said when they were asked, which was correct, my question is, if a subbed box is in standby mode (red light), does that show up on NTL's side as not in use, or does it have to have a green light when ever NTL ping/test that the box is in use?

the issue with this is that the box is not requesting clearance for channels. with any emualtor you can see how many ECMs have being requested and responded to when accessing channels. so having the box in standby has no effect as channels are not being cleared while in standby.

needs to be clearing a channel, green light is fine once the box is open on say sky1

yes was on cable, surprised me as I didn't know they could ascertain if box was in use. Don't know what classifies as 'not in use'
