My disk drive no longer plays dvd's it did before but not now it still plays cd's fine,but now it does'nt recognize any dvd's at all i've tried update disk drive/driver but to no avail any suggestions thanks?
My first thought is replace the drive. it's dead. Covered here several times. Happened to me twice. One of the mods here has a scenario where this wasn't the case, but dead drive is more likely especially if you were able to read/burn DVDs before.
One thing you can do is to check the dvd region and make sure it's set appropriately. The other option is to make sure your firmware is up to date. Give those two a try and see if they work out. A lot of times people think the drives are dead and spend money which could be used for better things when it's only a setting or a filter that's causing a problem.
