i am trying to fix a friends comp after the above message appeared.
windows will not start up so i have gone into bios and found that the hdd is only being recognised as a 137.4gb when it is a 200gb drive.
the board is a pc chips m810lr-h amd athlon 1100mhz. ive just got the bios upgrade from pc chips and installed it but the hdd still comes up as 137.4gb. ive double checked the leads, tried windows xp repair.
will reformatting and deleting all partitions solve this problem. i would be grateful for any ideas before i wipe all his data thanks

is service pack 1 or 2 installed? Before SPs, XP would only recognise drives being up to a certain size.
