    Can anyone help?

I have a Starview TheBox 2 and it has been working fine until a storm the other night. I suspect the lightening has done something to the box.
The box does not display any picture, but i can hear the sound. I have tried different ways of getting it to work. e.g i tried the yellow, white and red ports, incase it was a problem with the scart lead port.
I tried my dvd player in the same way on the tv to test if if was a problemn with the tv but this worked fine.

So the questions im asking really are... can this be fixed? is it worth fixing? how much would it cost?

    many thanks

yes, the scart is secure, i tried diff leads, i also ensured the cable was secure and i also tried the scart lead in the dvd, and hooked it up to the tv to ensure that it wasnt a problem with the tv!
    any other ideas?

did you try it in a different tv? does the box logo come up when you power it on? if you have a null modem cable try putting the new logo file on (in case) otherwise look inside the box for any blown or leaking capacitors.

    thanks for that!

yes i did try on different tv, stil the same!

the logo doesnt appear, its totally black, but with sound!

if there were any leaking things inside would it be best to get a new box?

it only rebooted once. the picture froze and the lcd read 0 and the sound was ok. i got up to switch it off at the back and it rebooted before i got to it (because it was stuck) but now it's ok that was last month. have you tried 8.00, and if not 6.01. 8.00 fixes some too. also did you factory reset before flashing 7.09 just in case.

yeah i did all the usual, but as i said it was only twice it rebooted, so its not too bad. I lent it to the mother in law last week & she hasnt phoned me so everything must be ok. I`m using the sv1 meself.

the sv1 still does the job :) the only thing about sv1 is the time is not auto, the epg changes channel when you scroll (annoying) and it doesn't say whats next or the time it started. one other thing is in the epg it doesn't have weekly but none of that matters once it stays on and shows tele :)

the sv1 works with no problems and the epg's are never great. the sv1 is probably less faulty than the sv3 and it doesn't reboot so i wouldn't really mind one they do the job. even the sv2 is good but still faulty so it's like they spent more time making the sv1 work right.
