Hi all, a mate of mine gave me a .avi file which he ripped off a dvd of his using SmartRipper, i am trying to learn how to add subtitles to the avi. and get it onto a dvd again, now i thought i had it, played back the disk in my dvd film played sound and picture good too...but no subtitles even though i set them up to be displayed on the film using the .srs file. At the end of the converting i had a ac3 audio file and a m2v & a srt file and a file called movie clip file...cannot see its extension but media player recognises it. The program i used to convert was The FilmMachine i tried Avi2Dvd but that always makes the DVD dual layer size...HMMM even when i set to DVD-R5. After that process i used TMPGenc and used the msv file and ac3 then it made me .vob files and 2 x Bup files and one .IFO file. i then bured that to a disk resulting in the dvd but without Subs So now im looking at what step i have missed, i have heard of a few progs called Subtitle workshop which adds the subtitles but that program only regognises the Movie Clip file which was made earlier and i dont use this file i dont think as i converted the msv and ac3 files... i also heard of Virtual Dub... Can anyone shed any light on my problem please Thanks
Hi mate, try this guide http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/avi_to_dvd_avi2dvd.cfm Not tried it myself, have never converted an avi that didnt have subtitles hard-encoded, guide looks easy enough. Let us know how you get on.
