divx failure

wenever i run divx on my sony laptop it freezes the system. any ideas y it does this?

 

You could not have the right codecs installed. Dowload the k-lite codec pack http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm. Hopefully that will fix the problem

 

Or be the cause of the problem. I really wouldn't recommend installing codec packs.

What exactly do you mean by run divx? Encoding via DivX? Running the DivX player? Playing a DivX avi in windows media player? Playing a divx file with menus? Could mean any number of different things.

 

i mean play a divx movie. any movie at all thats in divx format freezes my system. ive tried running it under windows media player and even directly from divx player. still the same messed result

 

Try mplayer or VLC.

 

I take it you dont like codec packs?
