Divx file too big to burn

    Hi downloaded Flight of the Vavigator in DvdX format and have tried to burn it using Nero vision after the file had been trancoded I got the message to replace the disc with one with a larger capacity.I'm using the normal 4.7 gig DVD-R, Can i use a program to compres the file if so which one. Regards Dave

    So the DivX file isn't too big then. You could say it was too long, that or you used a too higher bitrate when you re-encoded.

    The original size doesn't matter when re-encoding.
    Size = Length * Bitrate, where bitrate is the new bitrate not the old bitrate.

    Nero should have some kind of bitrate/quality/length setting.

    Just use VirtualDub to recompress it, it shouldnt take that long too. Hope that helped

    make sure nero is set to transcode to a dvd5 and not dvd9.
