got a jvc divx player and i have played some divx films init with no prob but some play without sound the pic is fine just no sound they play on the computer fine but on the player no sound any one got any ideas?
Think I read somewhere that the only audio allowed under DivX specs was mp3 (including surround mp3), but then I had a look at the DivX labs site and I couldn't see any mention of allowed audio codecs. What audio format do they use? Since .divx is based on avi GSpot should be able to tell you or just look at the decoder used whilst you are playing them.
AC3 should be supported. Try renaming from divx to avi. Sure re-encoding the audio is perfectly possible. Best is probably to extract it using VirtualDubMod or AVIMuxGUI, downmix and re-encode using say BeSweet or HeadAC3he to mp3. Then remux with your video. Not sure if it is possible to keep any advanced .divx features like subs or menus though.
