I've recently purchased a Yamaha S557 DVD Player, mainly because of it's DIVX and XVID support. However any films i try to play the picture judders. I am using component leads and have tried all diferent settings, PAL , NTSC, Progress Scan etc and still no joy.

I use Nero to burn the films at 4x, and all the discs work fine through the Xbox which or normal CDR's.

I'm not sure if theres a fault with the player so any advice will be much appreciated.

Could be that it is MTK based, your files use more than 1 consecutive bframe, are packed and the firmware your player came with doesn't like that. Use to be a common problem with MTK based players, a lot were fixed via firmware updates though.

    So,
    1) Check that the files do have > 1 bframe and are packed. Use MPEG4 Modifier.
    2) If they are. Unpack with MPEG4Modifier or check for a firmware update.

It was because they were packed, i've used MPEG4Modifier and now everything is fine. Thanks for the advice.

Is there a firmware update for Yamaha S557 ?
