Hi I just brought a Panasonic 580 eb home theatre kit, or something off the top of my head, Now ive burned films correctly and they play fine on my computer and infact on my older dvd (panasonic) theatre kit fine, now this new theatre kit supports divx so i converted the films to divx and still no avail, comes up with message cant not recognise disc.

Can someone help me to what i am doing wrong as my oldertheatre kit plays it yet the same company newer version doesnt despite supporting divs.

    Thank you

I don't completely understand what you mean, your old dvd player runs the movies you converted to divx or the same movie before you converted it to divx?

Well anyway, are they in avi because some divx dvd players won't support mkv, ogm, etc, try using avi. Also what did you encode the audio under, dobt it's the problem sence you would think it would just not play the sound but I guess it could be. Use mp3, aac, or ac3.

my old dvd player played them before being converted to divx, and still plays them anyway when converted, one of the movies were orignally in avi the first time and didnt work hence why i converted it to divs but still no look, I doubt its audio but I could try.

The avi file is just the container not the codec, same for mkv, and ogm. In order to see which codec the movie is using download Gspot.

I thought you meant you previously had movies in raw dvd format, Mpeg2, in a vob container.

I'm not sure what the problem is though, sorry, good luck.
