    Hi!

First my movie didn't wanna open in mediaplayer. Then I tried to open it in a prog called VideoLan and it player the first 1.16 and then crashed.

After reading in here I tried to download avifixed and repair the file that way. Now I can open the movie, but its only 1.16 long... Its original lenght should be over an hour. It has just cut out everything after the error point. Now what can I do about that??

Not much im afraid, basically before using avifixed people should create a backup copy of the movie, its the one thing i like to say when telling people to use it!

I've had a similar problem and wondered if anyone could shed some light! :eek:D

I wanted to learn about divx encoding, so followed the divx5 guide. Ended up with two files. Tried to play the larger one with mediaplayer and it reports that the format is not supported. However other divx avi files play fine! Have I made some sort of error when encoding??

One thing i did struggle with in the guide was the first/second pass.....'2 pass,1st pass' and '2 pass, 2nd pass' options were simply not there.

Instead i used 'multipass, 1st pass' for the first pass, and 'multipass, nth pass' for the second pass. The only other option to choose from was '1st pass'. Why were the options mentioned in the guide not there, and is this the problem with the playback?

I can open the new secondpass avi file fine in virtualdub, so it has encoded to some degree, but useless to me if it wont play in media!

Plus what the guide did not make clear was what you do with the two files created on completion of encoding. Do you ignore the first, split the second and burn that??

Sorry if i made all this sound rather complicated, I hope you get my drift and can offer some advise.

    -Kon phewsed!!
ps. whats up with afterdawns sys clock??! lol! 5 hours behind!
