Ive got some DVDs that I wish to put on my media player but the DivX5 encoder I bought a while ago converts the 720x576 25fps file to 720x285 29.999 fps. Why is this? Its almost losing half the vertical resolution and looks out of proportion on my TV.

    Thanks

    What converter are you using?
Use fairuse wizard lite, it'll use the divx codec and will let you choose the final resolution. You might also have to do some cropping of the blackbars to get a better resolution (fairuse will crop it)
The resolution your currently getting is not normal on a avi conversion. The horizontal and vertical should both change proportionally on the avi.
