I just purchased a new Burner capable of DL Support. Which software should I use for encoding/transcoding, etc.? Should I need to do this now, or can i just use dvd decrypter to create an iso image. I currently use either DVD Shrink or DVDRBPRO+PROCODER depending on the movie. Thanks. Seems like I shouldn't have to encode or transcode if I can rip to an iso and fit it on a DL Disc
If you're burning to dual layer and didn't want to edit the movie in any way then just rip w/ decrypter in iso mode and burn the mds w/ ImgBurn. It's the updated burn engine of decrypter. For the movies that decrypter can't handle then rip an iso w/ dvdfab hd derypter and burn w/ ImgBurn.
Thanks, that is what I figured. The 25 bucks for Dual Layer will be worth it. Will save alot of time transcoding or encoding. The Discs however will be more expensive. I will probably use them only for action movies or movies with alot of special effects. Thanx
Not a problem josmccle For dual layer I'd burn no higher than 4x and if your drive supports it booktype the +R DL to DVD-Rom for better compatibility on the dvd players.
Thanx again, Does it matter what brand of Discs to get. For example is say Memorex better than Imation. I usually get those because they're cheap at Wal-Mart.
Yep the brand of disc will matter - esp. for dual layer. For dual layer I only use Verbatim. Their dual layer has been on the market much longer then other brands so it's usually more supported by the drives firmware. Check out online sales for dual layer media too - if you're in the US I use supermediastore or rima.
