Shouldnt be. Have you looked into the romeo mod? That might be a good idea for v9 and v10.

hmmm... it's only about soldering pin17 to 5V instead of 12v, right?
Seems pretty easy... but I don't have any soldering tools...

But if I use good quality media and take care of my discs, there shouldn't be a problem, right?

ok, but the romeo mod was all about feeding the LBA with 5V instead of 12V, just want to check I got it right... cuz I can prolly get some soldering tools and fix that myself...

Yeah it prevents the laser from getting too much voltage which was why people were burning out lasers.

I need some help with this chip...the install does not look hard at all I am pretty good with that type of thing and I kno how to read directions...Once this chip is installed....Can you tell me how I go by FLASH-ing the BIOS. I am just unsure soo if you can clear some things up for me that would be great. What files do I need to burn to a CD ( where can i find them ) and then how do i boot this CD thats all i need ... or is there anything else I need to kno or do before i use this chip successfully

go to dms3.com and browse their forums. look under third party flash for toxicOS or toxicBIOS depending if you have the pro or lite version. they have directions there.

Brutto, did u buy it yet? If not, I don't suggest buying it. It burned out my Powerboard, and had to pay 60 bucks to get it fixed.

Did you install it right? Many of the people who ruined their ps2's complain on how the chip was at fault when actually they messed up the install.

Yea when I install something technical I usually inspect the set-up before powering it on. Install was rather easy, but taking apart the PS2 was the hard part. I think I may have overtightened some screws, but we'll never know.
