I got a benq dvd burner and usually use verbatim dvd-+rs and they always work fine. The old lady picked up some maxell dvd+r this time and so ive been burning on the slowest speed at 2 X but still every once in awhile the burn process failed. Is maxell that bad of a brand or maybe my burner doesnt like it heres the log file from when it encountered an error this morning Lightning 1A20-serial number removed Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.0.0, size=17920 bytes, created 1/31/2005 1:05:30 PM ahead WinASPI: File 'D:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 11:35:32 AM Nero Version: 6.6.0.6 (Nero Express) Recorder: <BENQ DVD DD DW1625> Version: BBIA - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.6 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <LG DVD-ROM DRD8160B>Version: 1.01 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.6 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : WDC WD1200BB-00CJA1 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off DiskPeripheral : WDC WD3200JB-00KFA0 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : LG DVD-ROM DRD8160B atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : BENQ DVD DD DW1625 atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : Generic DVD-ROM 1.0 d347prt Port 3 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === LG DVD-ROM DRD8160B E: CDRom0 BENQ DVD DD DW1625 F: CDRom1 Generic DVD-ROM G: CDRom2 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1023MB (1047788kB) Free physical memory: 522MB (535288kB) Memory in use : 48 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 2.12.2006 Burn DVD Image 10:42:34 AM #1 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 10:42:34 AM #2 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer BENQ DVD DD DW1625 running 10:42:34 AM #3 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3155 Turn on Disc-at-once, using DVD media 10:42:34 AM #4 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 257 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 2278520 (506:20.20, 4450MB) 10:42:34 AM #5 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 269 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 10:42:34 AM #6 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2311 Recorder: BENQ DVD DD DW1625, Media type: DVD+R 10:42:34 AM #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 431 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 10:42:34 AM #8 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 829 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (2 - CD-ROM Mode 1, ISO 9660) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2278521 (2278521) = #2278521/506:20.21 not relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/not required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2278521 blocks [BENQ DVD DD DW1625] -------------------------------------------------------------- 10:42:34 AM #9 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1042 Prepare recorder [BENQ DVD DD DW1625] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Your Nero is a bit old. Update to 6.6.0.18 here.. Package 1 Package 2 Run both of those, suing your old serial when prompted
thread teleported to relevant forum and serial number removed. DMA also needs sorting out there... also, the burners' firmware is current (BBIA), albeit @aug 2005 - http://benq.co.uk/support/downloads/downloads.cfm?product=751&page=downloads&dtype=B
almost, that primary hard drive needs DMA on i'll lend you a pair of my specs, they're a strong prescription hehe
Pah Hehe, well it's late and I'm tired seeing as i've just truggled to use Sony's crappy software for putting mp3s on my mp3 player. SonicStage is the biggest joke ever (SonicStage being the software BTW)... **sigh** Anywho, turn that DMA on using this guide... http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues Missed that in your post, allready checked Lol Principal of guide is the smae, just find your HDD controllers not DVD drive ones.
i guess im a real newb at this what does dma stand for and exactly what does it do as it pertains to my burners issue? thanks and sorry for including my serial # earlier, didnt even know it put it in the error logfile
Dma is Direct Memory Access. It is for data transfer without having to be processed through the cpu. That way it transfers at a much faster rate. Reducing the chance of transfering slower then the burner is burning.
Depends on how sucessful the burner has been as to whether the company bother to update it. You might never get an update again, but you might get lots. As it is a BenQ, you won't get any, cos they went bust, but someone might keep patching them for Benqs so keep a lok out here for new versions. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php
