i just got my dvd burner and i thought i successfully backed up my first movie but when i tried to play it on my ps2, it wouldn't work. it's the only dvd player i have for my tv, and i was sure that it could read dvd+r discs, so maybe i'm doing something wrong? please help. i'm using dvd shrink to burn my discs.

help is much appreciated. i almost put this in the ps2 forum but they only seem to be talking about burning games, and that's not what i'm trying to do.

What Burning program are you using? Nero, DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn? Maybe something else.
I have burned disc's with DVD Decrypter, and had mixed results. Sometimes ok, other times it would work on one player but not another. I use Nero.
What Brand of Media are you using? [bold]Don't Buy Crap(Cheap) Media[/bold]
How fast are you burning? It is not recommended to burn faster than 4x.

    i used dvd shrink.
my burner came with nero but i heard it wouldn't work on alot of movies because of copyright issues.
the burner is dvd+r dl, which i guess means double layer, but the discs i bought are one sided. they are TDK brand. the burner is memorex.
you think i should exchange it for a dvd-r burner?

As for Nero, I do not have any issues burning. DVD Shrink removes the copy protection, But that's not to say other people wouldn't prefer a different program. To each there own.
So did you use Nero to burn this movie? Can you play the back up movie in your Computer?

I'm not too sure about the Memorex Burner's, but I have heard a lot about the Very Bad quality of their DVD's. Hope the quality is not the same or your in trouble.

What speed are you burning at?

Once again, when it comes to +R or -R DVD's it depends on your situation. Check to see if you can create an iso file in DVD Shrink and burn the movie (iso file) as a [bold]BookType[/bold] Format. This will fool your PS2 into thinking it is an original movie (DVD-ROM)

    Good Luck,

I just did a search on TDK Media, as I was not sure if it was one of the Good Brand Names or Not. Apparently you may want to try a better Brand DVD.

@jburden78, just like to point out that DVD Shrink does NOT remove copy protection
this is done by DVD Decrypter or AnyDVD.

just checking, is it only the newer slim ps2's that play dvd-/+r dvds? we have an old fat one, is there any way to burn avi files onto a dvd-/+r so they play?
