I want to make SVCD's from .avi files that are already stored on disc. I'm planning to encode with TMPGEnc to convert to MPEG-2 and will burn with Nero most likely (or EZCD) and use Virtual Dub if necessary. I want to do this using an emachine 667ir, which has 15 GB of HDD and an Intel Celeron Processor. Will this work? If not what else do I need to be able to do this?
It will work. Use TMPGEnc's SuperVCD templates and change the aspect ratio from settings to 1:1 VGA and "full screen, keep aspect ratio" and change motion search to "high quality (slow)" and encode the video to SVCD format and burn it with Nero.
