I'm having a bad week fellas... I bought a Lite-on 811s, oh about 6 months ago, and it has worked flawlessly for me...until today. Last night I was backing up a disc with shrink and nero and I fell asleep...instead of an open tray with a backup this morning, I discovered the red burning light still on which didn't impress me at all. The burning process had started (Lead in) and I had some unrelated end-task error message (I think from my HP printing software or something). Apparently the burner was stuck in some sort of limbo for around 8 hours... Now, when I try to burn, the red light comes on, but that is about it. If I cancel nero, the whole system freezes (the red light stays on) and I have to do a hard shutdown. The drive will read and burn cd's fine, though... Did I break her? Anyone ever had this happen? Can I do anything to save her? She's all I've got, man! NOOOOOO!!!!!
Ok so I just used the Nero Infotool with a blank G04 in the drive in question and it told me quite a-matter-of-factly that, and I quote, "Drive G is locked by an unknown application Code 5040" and for a write speed on the drive it says "N/A" which can't be good 'cause I would like this drive to write sometime in the near future...I don't know what it all means...I'm beginning to question everything. I may be slipping into nihilism...
We had a frank discussion and my burner thought it best to suddenly work correctly again. I think it is best for all involved...
