do i need to be flashed

do i need to be flashed with the 257 firmware first before i can retreive my channels or should they come in without it.

Crazy. You need to flash the firmware, if there's nothing on it already. Then do an autoscan, put in your relevant codes, and turn on emu.

When you turn on the box, what do you see. Can you press menu and actually get a menu. If you can, go down to System Information and press OK, you should see something like;
STAR VIEW
API ver : 2.57e_E
Boot ver:7.0

The API ver is the firmware version.

 

i havent actualy installed anything on it yet,its a new box i bought

 

Forgot, before you do scan, you'll need to select your provider as well.

 

It depends on the seller. It's illegal to sell the box with anything on it, but not if they just sell you the box without software.

Plug it in, turn it on, tell us what pops up on screen.

yea thats the system imformation i have on mine,i hhad all the channels wen i bought the box first but i only have about 6 or seven left now,now i havent flashed the new firmware onto my starview,any ideas.

 

I've heard of the emu turning off by itself.

Press menu, then 1570, scroll down to the bottom, where is says Key EMU, and turn it ON if it's off.

Also, the keys changed yesterday, so click on this link, http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/517485
and scroll down to get the latest, check them against whats on yours.

Thats in the same bit as above, menu 1570, select Nagravision, and compare your keys. If you need to change them, do 00 first, and press OK, then do 01, and press OK. Then keep pressing exit til you get back to channels, and select one that has $ sign, see it it comes in

eamo i put in the new codes,the emu is on and when i done an auto scan only 38 programmes are coming in as found and some of them are still missing.when i done a network scan all the channels were found but theres still only the same few channels coming in on screen,a few people i know are having the same probs,could ntl be playing a role in this or is it something simple.

 

what country are you in?
what provider?
did you have all the channels before?
have you ever had a starview or any other type of receiver there before.
does your provider have provide digital tv in that area?
the more info we have the easier it is for use to help.

 

im in dublin and i have ntl,and yes i had all the channels up until 2 weeks ago when they just dissapeared off screen all in all theres only about 8 channels on my starview now,ant idea what has happened.

When you do the scan, have you got n*l selected, mine defaults to telepest for some reason.
