I use DVD SHRINK to rip the DVD to hard drive and then use nerovision to burn SELECTED chapters to DVD. My question is that do I need to include the associated .BUP and .IFO along with each .VOB files when I burn to DVD. I tried to burn with .VOB files alone and it seemed to play back fine but i'm just worrying about long term affects for not including .BUP and .IFO files.

    THANKS

Hi there rick28806, welcome to our Club,

Those "pesky" little IFO (information files) and BUP (Backup information files) are needed for - your remaining VOB files wouldn't know how to be played by your DVD Player. Sure your PC will probably play the VOB files like it can on your HD but a standalone wouldn't know even where to begin -

I suggest you might want to re-think leaving them out -

    Hi Rick,

I assume you are using Nerovision express and then adding your .vob files to the compilation screen.

If you were to look at the NVE output you would find that Express has created new .ifo and .bup files for your selected .vobs and placed them into a new VIDEO_TS folder for you.
There won't be any long term effects, nothing will change on the burned media.
