I would just use the +r and -r. Don't bother taking a chance with the rw if it has a 50/50 chance of working. Anywayz rw is more money than the +r and -r. Wouldn't u buy media that u kno would work not that ur not sure of. Right!

but if the game dont work for some reason, rw is still good, r is trash

mine reads everything, +r/rw and -r/rw

rw is good to test if the game actually works. that's a stupid statement to say forget it because rw is expensive. it will save you money in the long run to buy 2 or 3 rw's to test out a game your not sure works instead of wasting r's.

yeah but if you test on a +/- rw and it doesnt work, that does not necessarily mean a +/- r won't.

Well u should at least buy 1 rw disc. But i'm just saying ur paying some more money not even knowing if it will work or not. Most backups work if u know what u are doing. If u know how to copy them right and boot them correctly. Also make sure the orginal disc is in good condition and there are no scratches. Thats pretty much all u need to know to make a successfull backup so u won't make any coasters

that's still up to the user. i still recommend 1 rw to test dvd's that just wont seem to work in your ps2. in my experiences, if it wont work on rw then it definately wont work on r. still that's on a version 7 ps2. anything before or after v7 i wouldnt know.

It doesnt hurt to have the rw. You can burn it and see if it works if it doesnt oh well no lost you can reuse the rw. It will usually work on an r+ if not definitely on a r-.

P.S. Hey stryfe01 your a very unlucky person if from your experiences it dont work on rw it wont work on r. Cuz if you thumb through the internet, even through the forums here youll realize it the other way around. I have 100% success rate with r 50% success rate with rw. Not to mention the type of media you use and software that you burn will make a hell of a difference but that another monster in itself.

Yea i agree with Shindou. stryfe01 ur sayin if it don't work on rw then it won't work on r. I think its the other way around. But r always work compared to rw.

i sai don my version 7. using a sony dru500ax,recordnowmax dx, latest firmware and sony branded high quality dvd+rw. if it does now work on the +rw it will now work on any other +r or -r media i use. now, when i say that i mean for games that are questionable. meaning non group releases, and backups that i did not make myself. this is what i have found with MY version 7. now my version 5 does not read any +rw media i have tried but reads accu dvd-r excellent. so when i get a questionable backup i record it to +rw and heck it in the version 7. if it works, it works, if not i will not waste a dvd-r or +r to see if it will work on them. why? when i could just easily delete that dvd image and redownload it from somewhere or someone else. that is what i meant about the media. i'd rather waste time testing it on dvd+rw then waste a good blank dvd.

do you guys know anywhere to buy dvd+r's for cheap? I have looked on ebay and i found that you could buy 25 for like 37.99, but i bet there are cheaper ones. I need dvd+r's that run on the TDK indi DVD 4x "420N" dvd burner. Thanks!
