i ask this question because i want to know what you guys like better. would you rather watch videos and movies on a computer or on the tv? im debating which because i like to watch movies on the tv, but my computer doesnt have an out-put for the tv because its pretty old. and if i have an avi. video files, ill have to convert it before burning it to a dvd, which takes a long time.

so its either, burn avi's to dvd and watch them on the computer whenever, or convert them and watch them on the tv.

i just want to know what people would rather do, or think i should do. also, if i do not convert them and burn them as avi's ill fit more movies onto a dvd than if i convert them to dvd files.

It's easier to watch them on the computer. You can put about 5 full-length .avi movies on a DVD as opposed to only 1 if you were to burn it as a DVD. Also, burning DVDs can sometimes result in the video/audio being out of sync.

Buy yourself an old xbox and softmod it.. you can use it as a general media player, and stream videos etc to your tv with it.. all for a few $$'s http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Xbox_Frontend

I would much rather sit and chill on the sofa with a good film than sit on my hard chair trying to watch a film

if i did softmod an xbox, would i need to install any codecs with it or would be in included in the media center? and if i have an HD video file, would the xbox down convert it to be played as normal video? would a PS2 work also?

i just thought, would it be better to just get an S-cable and connect it to the tv?
