Hi, I'm a newbie and have a quick question. Does a faster CPU mean that it will take less time to ReMPEG a movie? ie. If it takes 10 hours to ReMPEG a movie with a P4 1.4ghz, would it take significantly less time if it were a P4 2.8 ghz. Does anyone out there know? Thanks in advance.
memex, Yes, I can confirm that a faster CPU will speed up Rempeg. I have a P4 2Ghz, and a 2 hr movie will compress in about 8hrs. Hope that helps. HomerJ
wow.. i have noticed something really interesting... not sure if this coincedence or fact.. it seems that athlon xp based systems compress movies faster than pentium 4s. most people that email about dvd probs that have a P4 cpu, say transcoding a movie takes about 6 to 8 hours... for me, it takes about 4 1/2 to 5 hours max.. i have an Athlon XP 2000+, 728MB DDR PC2100 SD-RAM, and two hds equaling 160GB in total size. is it my settings or is it the cpu? sorry, not trying to start the ever dreaded AMD VS INTEL war, but what about everyone else? how long does it take you to rempeg a movie?
I use Rempeg and it has never taken more than 4.75 hours to complete the task. I have a P4 2.4 with 1 Gig of RAM. (We Were Soldiers) (Domestic Disturbance) (Windtalkers) etc....
