I dont care what I have to spend. Im tired of using the HP movie writer and trying other things that make coasters. There has to be something out there that just "works". Something that you just put in a DVD put in a VHS tape and push one buttton, come back in an hour and its done. Please say there is such a thing. Im getting lazy in my old age.
Why not just get a Good quality video stabilizer or a TBC to remove the Copy Protection while captureing??? Something like the "Clarifier" from "Facet video" would be a good one or the "DVD Red Pro" is also another good video stabilizer.... It is Illegal to sell DVD Recorders that do not have Macrovision detection in them that is why you can"t Buy a DVD recorder/VHS combo and Record your VHS collection to DVD..... there might be a few that have firmware hacks on the net that might work but i wouldn"t rely on this..... There are a few capture devices that have no Macrovision detection Like the "Hauppague WwinTV PVR-150".... Cheers
Hi Minion, thanks for your advice. I appreciate all the time you take to respond to us newbies. I took your advice ( well sort of ) and bought a new PC JUST for transferring VHS to DVD. I bought a TV Wonder USB Card which seems to be working pretty well. Is there any step by step directions on how to transfer the file to DVD. I think they are saved as MPG files. I have Nero 7, boy that has a lot of stuff in it. I guess I should be looking at Nero Express or Nero Express. WHats your thoughts on this. All I want to do , is make my VHS collection a DVD collection. Am I on the right track? Take care: Eric
Hi, If you capture in Mpeg format then make sure you Capture to Mpeg-2 at 720x480 or 352x480 For NTSC or 720x576 or 352x576 for Pal as that is the Correct format for DVD, If you don"t use those settings the files will not be DVD Compliant(There should be DVD Settings in your Capture software).... To Put the Mpeg-2 files on to DVD you have to use a DVD authoring program which will let you add Menu"s and Chapters to your DVD and it will Format it all into a "Video_TS" folder and The you can burn it to DVD with Something like Nero in "DVD Video" mode or you can let the DVD authoring Program Burn it to DVD.... There are Lots of Different DVD authoring programs out there...Something easy is "Tmpgenc DVD Author" or "Ulead DVD Movie Factory" or you can use something like "Nero Vision express" but I personally don"t recomend that Program..... If you want to Make DVD"s with Complex Menu"s or with Multiple audio tracks or with subtitles then the Best Program is "MediaChance DVDLab Pro" which is what I use but it is a Bit complex to Figure out especially if you don"t understand the Menu and Link Structure of a DVD....
