im a sound geek who likes bass. i have been using a Panasonic SL-SX450 CD-Player for quite a while and the bass was excellent. But the ipod mini i have is giving out horrible bass, and is giving too much treble, the eq is at bassbooster. aslo, ive used mp3gain/volumeboost to edit the songs. im using jvc headphones that are giving excellent bass from my cd-player, but not the ipod. ive also used sony headphones. im going to try them with sennheiser cx300, but i doubt itll make much of a difference. so i was wondering if this problem is also with ipod nano, suffle, or video?

If you are listening to original CD's on your CD player then listening to AAC files at 128kpbs there is going to be a significant downgrade in sound quality regardless of headphones. If the headphones are large the iPod may not give enough power to properly drive the bass in the headphones, but more then likely it's the encoding. Also try making your own EQ in iTunes and then saving it as the default for your songs if that makes them sound better.
