    Hey AD addicts

I have a little question here. I have an LG 50" tv. I belive its an HDTV model 50PC3D. Now I would like to purchase the Toshiba HD-A30 DVD player because I heard that you can play regular dvds on it and u can get twice the quality then if u used a regular dvd player. I don't know if that's true but if it is, why is that that it gives out such better quality.
The only reason for me to get that HD dvd player is to get better quality on my regular dvds, i don't necessirily plan on buying HD dvds.
    any suggestions are great..
    Thnx in advance

if you play an a regular dvd on an hd dvd play with an hd dvd player then yes the quality will be much improved, with some dvds it wont make a difference, but other wise yes the quality will be jacked up a considerable amount

Why not save some cash and just get a decent upscaling dvd player for around $100 ? Unless you intend to actually use the HD Dvd player for HD Dvd's, save yourself some cash and get an upscaling dvd player. Also note that if your current tv already does a good job at scaling you wont necessarily see an improvement during dvd playback.

That is still $100 more then a quality upscaling dvd player. In the end it is your decision. Do some research on your tv and decide if upscaling will actually do any good. Since you work at Best Buy I am sure returning is no problem, if you don't see a difference return the player and move along.
