I was just wondering. If you don't use any compression, and just simply want to back up a DVD onto 2 DVD-Rs, do all programs give the same result for quality of video since there is no compression. Or is there a difference in quality even with this form of backing up. Can anyone suggest a good program to split up a DVD, free or otherwise. I don't mind paying 50-70 dollars for good software that i will always use.
If you don't care about the menus, DVD Shrink will split the movie into 2 DVDs(is free). If you want the menus, I think CloneDVD2 can do that(paid). And since there will be no compression, I think the quality will be almost identical with the original(given you use a good burning technique, quality media)
If you are willing to spend $50-$70, I agree with cyprusrom. You can get both CloneDvd2 and AnyDvd (lifetime update) for under $60. If you're going to get CloneDvd2 you might as well purchase AnyDvd and save yourself future headaches.
You can also split a DVD using VobBlanker, and I think it will allow you to keep the menus. It is also free, and it also allows you to edut the movie, remove unwanted stuff, it is a very good free tool.
