I bought a panasonic tv (TX-29F125R)it says 100hz and progressive scan but nothing about 720p, 480p or 1080i i'm already using my xbox with a component cable and i choose yes for the three types in the dashboard and it works fine playing 480p games like halo2 or 720p like still life

But I asked some of my friends and they said they tried to change the settings from the xbox dashboard and some of them got a black screen using different games and different Tvs

If they got a black screen it is because their television doesnt support that type of connection. I have components on my 32" apex and when I switch to 480p it goes blue....

sc430, is that your tv model number cause I can't find it anywhere? If the Componet video says its progressive then it can do 480p. If its an HDTV with HD-Component inputs then it can handel 1080i and 720p signals as well.
