Does nero convert?

I have the Nero software package. Can it convert avi files or other files to mpeg or is it just for burning dvds and such??? Thanks

 

Yes It Can. Use 'NeroVision Express' which is part of the applications inside 'Nero StartSmart'.

I opened nero vision express and it is all cd and dvd burning stuff. I dont see any options to convert video files. Does anyone know how to do this????

 

Make sure you are opening Nerovision Express and not Nero Express. Two different things...

BTW Burning ROM will not convert avi to DVD.

 

Yes.... definitely Nero can convert and or transcode AVI into MPEG 2 or VIDEO_TS (DVD) easily. Go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272946 for some basic instructions.

*NOTE: make sure you do a "scan disk or clean up" and "defrag" your hard drive, don't multi-tasks, shutdown/disable any unnecessary programs in prior to perform your AVI to DVD project.

Does anyone know how to convert using Nero burning rom instead of nerovision....cuz i dont have the upgrade to use nervision for conversion

Worked fine the few times i used it. Seems to do a lot of stuff. Like converting PAL to US standards, etc..

 

Use what MaxBurn suggested. Nero Burning ROM cannot aned will not convert .avi or any other dl. Nero Burning ROM is a burning application that burns audio to CDs and DVD-Video files to DVD. Your files must be converted to DVD-Video before you can burn them to a DVD.
Jlhfit is incorrect in stating that you can use Nero Burning ROM for this specific purpose.
