    i have a v14 ps2 modded with crystal chip 1.1. i use Verbatim AZO 16X DVD-R burned @ 4x for DVD's and Verbatim CDR's burned @ 4X

is it less stressful for the laser while running CDR's than DVD-R's?

i think it is more stressful running on CDRs, since alot of older ps2 cant read cdrs really well. also, it spins alot faster than dvd, u can literally listen to it.

a quality CD-R is actually less work on the laser then the blue PS2 CD based disk. as Bacon said the laser consists of two individual beams one for CD one for DVD.

here's the thing. i have a few backups that can be shrunken from 1 gb to the size of a cd. should i go with cd or dvd? which is better for my laser?

IF you use quality disks and your laser doenst already have faults BOTH are equal on the laser.

I could use a DVD though, shrinking DVD games to CD's can have problems such as hte CD not reading fast enough and stuff like that, just use quality media.

the backup i got has 5 different languages and a bunch of duplicate files. removed them. i burned to cd, and it works fine

so ultimately both are the same as long as i use good media?

    how are verbatim CDR's?
