I have an old outdated motherboard, and I need to get a new one. A few questions here:

    Heres the link:
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3509639&CatId=13

Does that come with the processor? Or do I have to buy one? I currently have a pentium II, and it doesn't run well with Ubuntu.

    Two:
Would this motherboard support a gForce 5500 FX video card?

    Three:
I have 2 512 RAM sticks, and I know absolutely nothing about this.
The first one is (I think they both came out of other machines):
    Hynix- 512MB DDR 400MHz CL3

The next one (also came out of a machine):
    Centon- 512MBPC3200 168828

that board dos not come with a processor. i would recommend these parts

    mobo amd 780g
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131273
    cpu amd x2 4000
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103774
    gskill 2x1gb
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098

that will cost $189 and be very overclockable. you wont need your old video card because the 780g has built in graphics that will run beryl or aero or what ever you want it to. also do you know anything about your power supply? you might need to upgrade that also. you will need new ram because you old ram would not be compatable with a new board.

I don't think I need the 2 gigs of ram and the nice processor, because I am only running Ubuntu, no gaming or anything. Thanks though.

ok you could just get the motherboard you listed in your first post and get this cpu

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103199

    and this memory

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145568

the cpu is a single core athlon 64 runnig at 2.2 and the memory is 2x512mb ddr2 667. i suggested nicer parts because ubunutu is a more resource hungry disto and would run better with a dual core. those parts would cost about $120. i would also recomend that you try out Debian. it is more stable and faster than ubuntu.
