    Im new to building pc's

i have an old computer running windows xp

i tried turning it on and it does nothing

so i opened up the case and unplugged everything and pluged things back in and then it started running but then after about 2 minutes of bieng on it just completely shuts off no shutdown thing just shuts off like its not getting power

and then it wont turn on again and then about half an hour later it will randomly get power again and then shut itself off again after a few minutes

    so what do you think?

and i dont think i plugged the cords in the right places but i turned on and i was able to log on to an acounnt but that's it i didnt try it with speakers my usb mouse and my keyboard works

Either a motherboard or PSU fault. Replace the PSU first as it's easier to do and more likely to be at fault. Make sure you buy a quality unit, I highly recommend Corsair.

Indeed, but if you do build a new PC, use a new PSU.

Quite honestly, Corsair should be mailing you a check for advertising sometime soon. You are selling more of their products than they ever managed.

They deserve it. They have the fewest problems of any brand, and seeing numerous builds come to fruition on the forum over the years has proved that.
