I was just wondering if DVD-R writers need cleaning in a similar way to CD's? If so what the best way of doing it. The reason that I ask is that just lately I've been getting several failed recordings. I dont know if its a bad batch of discs (I always use the ritek dye Datasafe silver discs) or if theres a writer issue.
You may need to clean your lense of the laser from time to time. However, dont do this often as it can a). put the lense out of focus b). scratch the lense. Use compressed air to clean if possible, do not use the spinng CD with the light hairs on it.
