Not sure what your actually trying to do here (either copy someone elses mod or learn how to create your own) so I appologise if I'm telling you stuff you already know. when people make a modification to a map (like run fast etc) the map needs to be resigned and uploaded back to the xbox before effects show (this I'm sure you know). Now theoretically if you want to be able to try someone elses mods you need to get hold of that map. This isnt practical since maps are big and would take ages to transfer, so... the person who makes the mods (knows how to use dot halo or write XML after using Hex to find the values) takes a snapshot of the changes between the orriginal map and the modded map, this can be saved out as a PPF. so you can obtain this PPF from many of the xbox sources like xbox scene or www.se7en-sins.tk etc apply it to your map, resign your map then ftp it back to your box and you will have those mods into your map. The other method (of creating your own mods into your own map without copying others work) would involve adjusting the tags in Dothalo directly. For this you need to know the values which you need to change (can be found using a hex program with difficulty) or you can get the plugins for dot halo which is really XML code pointing to the values so you can adjust them to what you want them to be. The two possibly sound like they acheive the same results (in some ways they do) but in general there are differences. Lets take cheaters on xbox live for example. Generally a cheater who super jumps and runs fast has gone down the PPF method, they only learned how to apply other peoples mods and so the only mods they do are the most comon ones easily found on the web (they dont understand they have the tools to do much more). When you come up against an experianced modder you may not be able to tell because they have done more subtle mods which are harder to spot such as increased their shield 20%, increased their auto aim so they are more accurate with every weapon, increased the damage they inflict on you, increased the range of the weapon (such as the sword) by a small amount. All of these things are possible with dothalo and the right modifications to the map, most are built into the options that come with it and additional ones can be added by finding the xml or manually adding a plug in. either way you can get the plugins or ppf's from www.se7en-sins.tk or xbox scene etc, a google search for halo ppf wont hurt either hope this helps. By the way, I'm a modder but I dont mod on live. I support modding because it can achieve so many things that the game wont let you do like the ability to fly a drop ship (pelecan) on single player or better explosive effects or re-skinned levels. I never play mods on Xbox live (have a different unmodded box for it too), it ruins the game play and achieves nothing but increasing a number next to your name (which in the end will put you in a place where you only play other cheaters. You need to get modding tools 1.3. Check out www.se7en-sins.tk to find it. You will need to register to see the file downloads tho. And you can't use dothalo to make the weapon fully auto. You need to use h2x. There is a tutorial on how to do all that at se7en-sins.
