Hello all. I have just about given up burning double layer DVDs. I have tried so many different types of software to list. dvdfab Platium, roxio, Nero and more. I have 3 different burners + one in each of my laptops. Also tried my backup software and all fail burning. Looks like missing burning spots in the inside end of the DVDs? Using vista and xp. Have no problem with shrinking or single sided. Can any one help? I was using office depot blank DVDs. As of yet have had no success, only useless DVDs. Thanks for any help in this matter.
Hi, it sounds like you need Imgburn, the best dl burning engine out there and best of all, it's freeeee ! Jo
What's the make and models of the burners? All up to date on the firmware? Dump the office depot dl's and pick up some Verbatim dl's.
I have an IOmagic, and two memorex's. My laptops I do not know their brand. One laptop is an HP, another is an Acer. thanks for help Frankie
W/O the model numbers on the I/O or Memorex I'm thinking they are on the older side. I don't think either one sell burners anymore. For the laptops you'll need to check the laptop manufacturers site for any firmware updates. Ritek is newer to the market dual layer media so with older drives it's doubtful it will work. For your drives look for Verbatim dual layers rated no higher then 4x - there was a change in the way that higher rated dual layer media was made that older drives may not be able to handle. To find the model of the drives one way is to just double click on 'my computer' then right click on any of the drives & pick properties. Go to hardware tab and they'll be listed there.
