Doubt HDD test

    If I bought a used HDD and someone modified the firmware and SMART to show the new HDD without badblocks and without errors, is it possible to find out the true situation of the HDD with some test?

    Best I can think of is to run chkdsk. You can also go into administrative tools, computer management, storage, disk management to see what it says.

    or go to the drive's manufacture site to download the diagnostic program for that drive.
