Hi, I'm going to be downloading films from next wk onwards when I get broadband installed. I don't know much about the process of downloading, converting and copying to dvd. I recently downloaded a short ad just to try it out. I used vso converter to convert and copy to dvd to burn it to the blanck disc. The copied disc then worked on my pc but not on my dvd played which is combined with my tv. Any hints or tips on which would be the best way to convert and copy and to get the copied disc to work in my player? I've been backing up dvd's and they worked fine on my player.

DVD player may not support the disc format.

The dvd player has supported the dvd backup's i've been making using the same type of disc's. Therefor should it support the converted files that I download ?

So you converted it with DivxToDVD and than used copytoDVD to burn it right?. What do you normally use to backup dvds (Nero, etc) ?

Usually I use dvd shrink and I think that uses nero. All I have is nero smart start on my pc. Would I be able to convert with divXtoDVD and then use dvd shrink to burn the files to the blank dvd? For some reason nero smart start won't burn video_ts files from dvd's when I use nero on its own but it does it fine in conjunction with dvd shrink.

Yeah you could always try it on a DVD-RW, yesterday I used DivxToDVD then i used nero to burn the files and that worked pretty good. So have a try with shrink and see how you go :) Come back with results, also if you have a DVD-RW try that first.

    I use dvdSanta.

Handles all PAL to NTSC to PAL conversions for me, allows me to add more than one AVI/WMV/etc. onto one DVD and also adds index markers every five mins or so.

Sorry just 1 more thing to ask you, I burned the files like I said useing dvd shrink and it turned out fine, that was a whole film. But if I wanted to put say three 30min episodes onto the disc any suggestions what to use or what to do even. I tried with dvd shrink, the first one went on fine but when I tried the second episode it said " disc not empty, erase to proceed". I actually downloaded the latest nero and that burned pretty good too, but I think the quality was actually better with the shrink tho believe it or not, but when it comes to putting more that one thing on the disc I'm stuck.

Are they ripped from a disc?

Ok... Well if theyre in avi format try the divxtodvd way adding them 1 by 1 and it should come out as a bunch of dvd files ( I did this with some eps i had) and use shrink or nero. Try that, do you have a DVD-RW? Is so use that first :)
