hi, Ive search the forums everywhere but cant really find the answer, as Im new to all this lingo and need it said in plain english.
problem is this: I downloaded this movie, but when I go to burn it to disc is comes up that its too big. I know Shrink it, compresses dvds but it wont work on my movie folder, with the movie I downloaded. 1click dvd, wont work either or Nero, they all say the same thing that its too big.It says there isnt enough space on my hard drive or something like that. How do I shrink my downloaded movie please so I can burn it to a disk and watch it on my dvd player on tv.Hope that makes sense as I know absolutely nil about this stuff. Im hoping someone out there will send me in the right direction. Thanks

    Hi,

I am guessing that your downloaded file format is in avi (?)
If so, use dvd flick to convert to dvd format (mpeg 2)
Now dvd shrink can compress this to fit on a single sided dvd so that nero (7, not 8 or 9) can burn it for you. If you have nero 8 or 9, then you need to use Imgburn to burn the file created by dvd shrink (Imgburn burns only iso files, so the output of dvd shrink must be iso, it can and is easily set to that). Dvd shrink does not work with nero 8 or 9.

Imgburn and dvd flick are free

dvd flick can be found here at afterdawn

    Imgburn, free from

Hi tried that but didnt work.
I have tried VLC media player then Dvd Flick to burn but then it comes up with a message saying not enough room on my D drive and I need at least 11481mb for encoding to complete.
I have no idea what this means and how to fix it.

are you trying to watch this on your standalone dvd player, if so you need to convert to dvd most files downloaded are in avi, or xvid or something simlier..Its just alot smaller format(average 700mbs) to upload..When you see DVD-R thats in dvd format there vob files but they average anything upto 5 gig and take alot longer to download thats why most people download the avi files then convert to dvd, unless ya downloading on the newz groups and ya get ya full internet speed in the mbs...software i use is convertXdvd 3 can do about everything with that add files together add menu's add subtitles etc.. if ya need any help why dont ya e-mail me not allowed here and i will always be willing to help..

How much clearer can a message be???? It would be best if you just went out and bought the movie.

That's not correct. ImgBurn can also burn DVD compliant files (VIDEO_TS folder).
