Downloading and burning 1080p movies

I have a sony blu ray player and want to download 1080p movies, burn them to DVD DL and play them on my blu ray player in 1080p

Basically, i want to know how i can do this, any programs i will need etc.

I can see lots of 1080p movies available in the format 'X264' - can this be burned onto a DVD DL and played in a sony blu ray player?

As far as downloading goes, torrent sites are very slow 3 days to 2 weeks to download 1080p BD movies.
