Does anybody know of a way of downloading programmes put out by the BBC. I would like to record the history of trad jazz series being broadcast. They use real player to run programmes on computer.

    Or use streaming media recording.

There should be the information you need at the link below. Read the FAQ and do a search for BBC.

Audio recording like Total Recorder is one way to do it, but I would not say it is the best way. Downloading the streams using streaming media recording software is much faster and you get an exact copy of the stream. Audio recording will be slower because it takes as long to record as it takes for the stream to play. Audio recording also will add some distortion to the audio, though the amount will depend on how well you set the audio levels and the type of sound card you have.

Audio recording does have it's uses, but we suggest that it is best only used for streams that cannot be downloaded. BBC audio streams are easily downloaded.
