I got hold of a damaged Macbook Pro at an auction, an on/off switch and hard drive later all is well. My questions are :- if i download some backup software from a say an NZB website for a MAC, it will be on a Windows based PC, how do i convert it to be useable on a MAC. Do i download it and burn it in the "raw" state to disc then convert it in the MAC? What software do i use?
if you download mac format file say in *.dmg format you can save it anywhere. I normally down load torrent files for my mac on my pc. Then move the dmg file to a nas drive.
You don't need to convert it at all. You will either download it as a dmg file or a zip file. In which case just unzip it using either the mac or pc to leave the dmg file. Then just run the dmg file from the mac. I store all my mac files that i have downloaded on my nas drive in a folder canned "Mac Apps" and i can access the nas from any of my pc's or my mac. ie. dwonload from the net on the pc transfre the file to the mac app's folder on the nas and access the dmg from my mac.
dkirk69 Thanks for the prompt replies, sorry but this sounds way to easy, I have D/L h*ndbr*ke it is dmg and 3 par files, i have run the pars and all is fine. if i have this correct all i need to do is put it on an external drive and transfer onto the mac hard drive and Bobs my uncle.
dkirk69 many thanks for your help, I'm off to buy an external hard drive to put all my mac software on to for safe keeping.
