Forgive my extremely "newbie" question . . .How do I know in Kazaa if I am downloading a good quality video? For example is there a way to know the fps rate before I download? And what is the best type of video to download for quality picture results? Thanks!! BTW I'm so glad this site exists!!
I don't download videos much but you should get AVI preview (www.k-lite.tk, go the downloads and scroll down) to view the video files you have chosen and rate the quality your self, also, check the "notes" of the file (Just hold your mouse over the file in "Search"). Better yet, uninstall kazaa and delete all of its folders and download kazaalite from the same site, it comes with avi preview and many other usefull utilities, no ad or spyware, a permenant user level of 1000 and is completely free.
Thanks! I should have specified that I am using Kazaa Lite. Speaking of which, what does it mean to have a user level of 1000? I'm nervous about sharing files since I use it from work. Can't systems people tell if I am allowing uploads from my computer? Holding the mouse over the file works great! I guess I should have been more patient
1000 is your participation level, in the normal kazaa you'd have to build it through uploading to 1000 and thats very hard. It will give you priority over other so your downloads will be faster. However, for good quality movies, kazaa (or k-lite) is not the best option, DC++ or eMule are the p2p apps for it. eMule is slow a lot of the time and hard to get used to but once you get the hang of it, there is a massive selection of excellent quality movies! Well no shoey not exactly. Most of the movie trade are screeners so thats not how you'd tell. Dont beliegve me then go to http://www.vcdquality.com look at the svcd releases of some movies and you will see what i mean. The things to look out for are TS - Telesync, usually bad - acceptable quality released as vcd/svcd (or through tmd where the quality will be absolutely terrible!), Telesyncs are recordings off a cinema screen with audio from a seperate source! CAM - Stay away from it unless it has UTi on it, recorded in a cinema so you can hear all the people around, but with uti its usually acceptable quality SCREENER - Acceptable quality, usually recorded from a vhs promotional screner to VCD/SVCD DVD SCR - DVD Screener, usually excellent quality, its ripped off a dvd!

Depends on what they are, the movie trading scene doesnt judge a film by whether it's divx svcd or vcd. When releasing movies, you dont just throw them in a shared folder, i mean that would work but the best way and most used way is to release it through a group on IRC. Then it may appear on website like vcdquality.com where it would be rated and you would be surprised by how many are dismissed (nuked). Ive seen 2 file divx with ac3 audio nuked for slight out of sync problems, bad aspect ratio and lots of other reasons like that. I mean, look at the xvid for the two towers, it had a major out of sync problem! The format its in doesnt matter, it doesnt tell the full story of the quality at all. Basically though, SVCD and normal size divx files may have good quality but its best to always check out the quality on vcdquality.com. However, suing kazaa, no one is probably ever going to get the best movie quality!
