Hi guys im a comlpete newbie at this i have a sky dish i live in dublin what do i need to get myself all the movies/sport channells etc and what cost approx is involved and where can i buy what i need any help please
you say you have a sky dish so you could get them off off sky a package that includes movies,sports,and the basic channels (this is called sky world)will cost some where between €600 and €700 per year.this wont include setanta or espn. you could go for a foreign package such as absat or art etc,they would be cheaper but you wont get as many channels.also you would need to install a second dish pointed to either astra 19 east(the old sky satellite)or hotbird 13 east,and you would need a reciever that can read the card for the package you bought and unlock the channels. there are quite a few different types of scrambling methods used by the various package providers(nagravision,seca,iredeto etc)so if your card uses seca you need a reciever that can read a seca card.you could buy a reciever with a cam slot in the front(cam = conditional access module)then you could buy what they call a multi cam,that can read allmost any card you could buy, one such cam is called dragon cam(this slots in to the cam slot on the front of the reciever and your card then slots in to that). another reciever option is the protek reciever which works by being connected up by ethernet connection to an online server(it will give you many of the pay channels free,however you would have no guarantee as to how long you would get the channels free)they cost around £100. you can get a lot of info in magazines such as what satellite.
