Anyone know if it is only the SATA drives that will be supported? I have an OLD PC (switched to laptops a while ago) that only has IDE. My current burner is a LG GH22NP20.

Just curious if I'll be able to use a Lite-on with an IDE. I do have my VIA card, so I'm guessing I could just hook a SATA drive to that, but I'm not sure that would work. Any advice?

Additionally, what exactly is this new burning software going to do differently from what the new imgburn does? I thought overburn was forcing the iso to burn through to 100%, or am I mistaken?

you could consider doing what i did and buy an external case to put it in, that way i can use my laptop or desktop to burn with.

as far as the image burn question, when it truncates the image it is just stopping it when it runs out of space and not giving you the error, your still only getting 97%, with the new burner it will allow you to actually overburn and put the entire file on the disc 100%

Yep. I saw that on the FAQ that funk posted as well. Now my problem is that I need to find a store that sells the drives. Newegg offers the 324-98B, but it is out of stock. I've been on tigerdirect, and although they have the lite-ons, from the pictures for each of the drives, they look to be the Y chipset.

Yep. Saw that one, but it doesnt have the letter B at the end (and the other dont either), which worries me. I know several people have said that should work, so I'm debating if I should pull the trigger.

if it is not a b i'm sure it must be a at worst which theoretically can be cross-flashed to b i'm like you that is why i didn't order it, but at this point i think i would risk it.

The B denotes the type of chipset used in the drive, so you can't "cross-flash to a B". An A might work as it also uses a MediaTek chipset, but I wouldn't assume that as it may not. Y is the one you definitely don't want, as that has a NEC chipset and won't work with the Burner Max firmware.

i was under the impression that a's were up-gradable to b, guess not my bad, the thing is when you search b model those links are the ones that come up, and a is supposed to be last years model so chances are they are most likely going to be B models.

I am going to check some of the local stores around here. Is there a way to tell from the outside of the box? I really dont want to open it if I dont have to.

I stopped by my local Microcenter last night, and they had plenty of 124-04 drives in stock, all revision B.

My 224 arrived this morning and I've just cross-flashed it to a 624 and updated it to the latest firmware, so bring on Burner Max! :D

I may have mislead people to think they are. I just found my response in a post where I was talking about asus drives and typed A version. Sorry if I mislead anyone.

Is there someplace specific to get the tutorial on how to flash (or cross-flash) the drive to the latest firmware? I've already pulled down the the Burner Max tutorial, now I just need one for the original firmware upgrade. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. :)
