Check this thread for the Burner Max tutorial (as of today, but might change once the firmware releases). The same tutorial basically tells you about the stock firmware upgrade, which is an exe that you need to run. If you google ihas firmware, you'll find several sites where you can download the latest.

i read the tutorial, and i think i would just wait for the one that C4 releases, i think it is going to be different, and i would not change any stock firmware until i see what he is going to do, you may upgrade it to a point that it may not be able to be written to, once they realize there was a security problem you may get a hold of something you dont really want.

Yeah. One thing I noticed is that in the tutorial, the firmware upgrade file that they have listed for the iHAS324 is AL1A, which was released in June 2011. If you google for new iHAS324 firmware, the latest one out now is AL1B (released last week), so its hard to say if you need a specific firmware, or can just upgrade to the latest. Best bet would be to wait.

If you download the revised version of the guide, it says this this on the first page in red lettering: -

I doubt it. If they could lock drives via a firmware update, they'd have already done it as people buying low end models and flashing them so they're higher up models has been possible for ages and actually costs them money. Being able to flash the drives to Burner Max makes them money, cos of all of the people buying the drives! Obviously, if new official firmware came out for all 6 of these drives tomorrow I'd be wary, but the latest official firmwares for all of these drives was available before Burner Max was even announced.
