I have a Samsung SD-616T DVD-Rom drive. I just updated the firmware on it, and the process completely successfully with no errors. Then when my computer resarted, it said Secondary Disk Drives were not found. So Windows booted up (and took about 2-3 minutes longer to do so than usual) and I went into 'My Computer' and noticed that only my DVD±RW Drive was showing up. I then went into 'Device Manger' and expected it to be there. It wasn't. Then I tryed ejecting the drive and realized that it's not even powering up. The drive is acting as if it's completely dead. What can I do about this?

Confirm that you downloaded and installed the correct firmware update from Samsung or a trusted Samsung partner. Try reinstalling the firmware again. Contact Samsung if the problem continues.

You could search on the internet for the version of firmware you had prior to the installation for a short-term solution.

The program I flashed it with originally won't do it anymore. The drive isn't detected anywhere.

Hmmmmm. Well you'll just have to troubleshoot it or contact Samsung. If you have another computer remove the DVD-Rom and connect it to the other PC, and see if it reads the drive after boot. If it does, then it's a problem with your computer, if it doesn't then it's the DVD-Rom or its firmware. If it works in your other computer, try plugging it back into your first computer, but attaching a different connection from the power supply than the first one it was connected to.

When you booted it up the first time after you installed the firmware update did the drive power up and then down or make any funny noises?

No, as soon as I installed the firmware it told me to restart the computer and when the computer booted up it gave me the BIOS error message saying that the drive could not be found. Ever since then I've gotten no response out of it. I'll try plugging it into another computer though.
