hey guys. a while ago i formatted my computer...and well. i didnt have thedrivers for my video card or modem heres my things: [bold]Video Card[/bold] NVidia RIVA TNT (Diamond Viper V550) - probably blows...dont care [bold]Modem[/bold] Rockwell 33.6 DPF Internal Modem -Yes, I am on Dial-Up >.> [bold]OS[/bold] Windows 98 SE. Can anyone help me.. i need these drivers badly.. i have searched around for a bit..found some drivers..nothing. dunno how to install em...and well. they wont run. i need a special diskette for the drivers i downloaded for my video card..and well my modem..just is gay. lol.. thanks guys.
yeah i think i downloaded the friver from there ddp and it didnt work. ill go try it again..and ill let you guys know how it turns out..thanks for help
oh! and i downloaded that file..the Win98SE one and it says it couldnt find the device for the driver..i know the modem is there. i know it works.. i just formatted my computer and loast all the drivers... so i dunno.....im not very computer literate with these things either. i like to think i am but im not.. lol
yeah i dont have internet access on the comp yet so i put the Setup file in my c:\ and i open it and it says that the device cannot be found for that driver.
if no question mark there than modem should work as windows loaded it's own driver. check in control panel\modem to see if modem diagnostic works.
ok...but when i try to connect to the internet. it says "There is no Dial Tone or Modem is not Installed Properly" and i know theres a dialtone and the modem is installed!maybe ill try a new cable too..
make certain cable is in wall jack connector & not in handset connector as won't get dial tone. did you try the modem diagnostics in control panel?
oh yeah. i tried the diagnostics. the modem is there...but it cannot "Communicate" with the modem..well it wasnt plugged in to the wall jack when i tried that..so probably not the smartest thing to do. but yeah..and i fond out the modems drivers come with Win 98 SE.......i feel like a dumbass there.. lol
doesn't need to be connected to phone line for diagnostics. what com port & irq # is the modem using? are you using the motherboard serial ports or do you have them disabled in the bios?
yeah well/. its in Com port 2 and umm for IRC not sure. and diagnostics... notta clue. lmao. it shows the modem..so i think its there..but i cant connect yet because i am downloading my vid card drivers.. lol EDIT: motherboard ports...i dont think i have them disabled...
